02What Is Each Tool Built For?
Intelligems describes itself in one line on its homepage: “Decide Confidently. Grow Profitably. Test pricing, offers, content, and more, powered by AI that brings your data into every decision.” Its about page says “Intelligems builds the AI agents that turn your traffic into profit,” and its pricing page says: “Most tools optimize for clicks. We optimize for profit.” It states “100,000+ Tests run” and “5,000+ Stores” on its site.
Apex by DRIP is an A/B testing platform for companies selling online that predicts which tests will win before they go live, built on one of the largest A/B test databases in e-commerce. The method is called Prediction-Based Experimentation. In plain words: we know what shops like yours tested and which tests won. Apex has three layers. A test memory of 4.3 million A/B tests from 151,000 shops, collected since 2011, gives every test idea a Likelihood to Win before launch. A testing tool builds, launches and evaluates tests directly in the shop. Managed execution means tests are built, checked, launched and read together with the DRIP team.
03What Can You Test With Apex and With Intelligems?
Price and offer testing is the core of Intelligems. Its documentation lists price tests per SKU, for subscriptions and across currencies, plus discounts, gifts, bundles, upsells, shipping rates and free-shipping thresholds, checkout blocks on Shopify Plus and post-purchase offers. Shipping rate tests need Shopify Advanced or Plus, and one shipping test runs at a time. Price tests run through Shopify Functions, checkout scripts or duplicate products, and Intelligems says its team typically builds the price integration in “3-5 business days.” If those test types are the core of your plan, Intelligems documents each of them.
Both tools test pages. Intelligems covers themes, templates, landing pages and page content, split URL tests, up to five groups per test and personalisation by traffic source, device, Klaviyo segment and behaviour. It states “no limit” on parallel tests; mutually exclusive experiments are in beta and available on request. Feature flags: none found.
Apex tests pages and page elements. It runs parallel tests on the same traffic with optional exclusion groups, A/A tests, redirect tests and a global holdout, and it supports feature flags and staged rollouts.
| Test type | Apex by DRIP | Intelligems |
|---|---|---|
| Pages and page elements | Yes | Yes (themes, templates, page content) |
| Redirect or split URL tests | Yes | Yes |
| Parallel tests with exclusion groups | Yes, optional exclusion groups | Parallel tests yes; mutually exclusive experiments in beta, on request |
| Global holdout | Yes | Not a documented feature |
| Feature flags and staged rollouts | Yes | None found |
04How Do Tests Get Built and Launched?
Intelligems has four editors: Visual Builder, AI Visual Builder, CSS/JavaScript, and JavaScript with an External API. Its Atlas Experience Agent builds content, theme, template, redirect and JS/CSS tests from a text prompt. The documentation is clear about the limit: “Offers, checkout, post-purchase, price, and shipping experience types are not yet supported.” Activation stays manual: “Does Atlas activate experiences automatically? No. Activation is a manual step.”
The Atlas QA agent checks the setup before launch, on all accounts. The Intelligems MCP server works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok; it can create, start, pause or end tests, and “Your AI client will ask you to confirm before running them.”
In Apex, experiments are configured as code, with a code editor and a visual builder called Operator next to it. CLI preview links let a team check a variant before it goes live, and QA runs via preview. Clients see four QA checks: all devices, tracking and targeting, responsive, and matches design. The MCP connection lets a shop owner build and read tests from ChatGPT or Claude without a terminal; the CLI is the developer path.
Both vendors offer people as well as software. Intelligems offers White Glove Management on request. Apex includes managed execution: tests built, checked, launched and read together with the DRIP team.
05How Does Each Tool Help You Choose Winning Tests Before Launch?
In Apex, every test idea gets a Likelihood to Win before launch: one percent figure per idea, shown with how many tests back it. The figure ranks an idea against the shop's own backlog. It is not a win probability in the strict sense.
Does the ranking hold? In a holdout check within a shop, the top third of ideas won 1.4 to 1.6 times as often (DRIP press release, September 29, 2026). In early September 2026, DRIP also scored and froze predictions for 33 brands. We publish the first results from November 2026.
Intelligems approaches the same question from its own data. Its Smart Test Recommendations (Beta) “analyzes your store's performance and surfaces high-impact test ideas automatically,” as its Q1 2026 product recap puts it. Atlas “ranks them by estimated profit impact.” Intelligems does not publish what data trains these recommendations, and we found no per-idea prediction with the number of tests behind it.
06How Do the Two Tools Measure Results?
Intelligems uses “a Bayesian statistical model and Monte Carlo simulations.” Results show the probability to beat control, the probability to be best and 95% intervals. The documentation recommends “300+ orders per test group” and “7+ days.” Metrics include revenue, profit and COGS per experiment and profit per visitor. Auto-stop, guardrails and sample ratio checks are not published. An optional API verdict is described as “not a replacement for reviewing the full results.”
Apex uses fixed-horizon statistics with confidence. Each test reports its main metric, lift and runtime revenue. On Shopify, Apex shows profit per test and can optimise for profit, using discount share, refund share and profit per sale. Guardian stops a test automatically when it reaches a revenue loss threshold.
For behaviour data, Apex shows heat maps and behaviour per variant (clicks, scroll depth, average fold, funnel steps). Intelligems offers Sitewide Analytics with a funnel view and post-test metrics, and connects to GA4, Segment, Klaviyo, Microsoft Clarity, Heatmap.com, Hotjar, Slack and Recharge. Own heat maps or recordings in Intelligems: none found.
07What Do Apex and Intelligems Cost?
Intelligems prices per store “based on your monthly order volume ... no per-visitor charges and no overages.” The Shopify App Store listing shows the lowest tier, 0 to 1,000 orders a month. The pricing page loads its tier table by script, so only the default view at 10,000 orders was readable when we checked.
| Plan | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Smart Content | $69/month or $660/year | Base of every plan |
| Smart Merchandise, Smart Shipping | $112.10/month each | Include Smart Content |
| Smart Pricing (Limited or Unlimited) | Not readable on the static page | Limited: one price test a month; 3-month minimum |
| Unlimited | $349/month at the lowest tier; at 10,000 orders $2,894 list, shown as $1,279 (“Save 44%”) | All modules, dedicated CSM; 3-month minimum, no trial |
| Pause Plan | $9/month | Data only |
Bundles are 5 to 15 percent off and annual billing 20 percent off. There is a 14-day trial on every plan except Smart Pricing and Unlimited, no free tier, and no published setup fee. Plans can change, so check intelligems.io/pricing for your order volume.
Apex does not publish its pricing. A card-free free tier for one store exists, and the call to action is to book a call. If you need a published price list before a conversation, that is a real point for Intelligems.
08Where Is Your Data Hosted, and What About GDPR?
Intelligems' privacy policy states that data “will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States,” and that European residents can request access or deletion. A hosting region is not published. A DPA, a subprocessors page, SOC 2, ISO 27001, a cookieless mode and consent handling: none found on its public pages.
Apex has GDPR in place and hosts in the EU plus UK. DPAs are in place for US tools. ISO 27001 and SOC 2 are in progress, which means no certification yet. Consent apps for most Shopify GDPR apps are supported, and tracking runs server-side with first-party data.
09When Is Intelligems the Better Choice?
- Your testing plan is about what you charge. Intelligems documents price tests per SKU, for subscriptions and across currencies, plus discounts, bundles, shipping rates, checkout blocks on Shopify Plus and post-purchase offers.
- You want a published price and a trial. Intelligems lists plans from $69 a month at the lowest order tier and a 14-day trial on most plans (checked October 2026).
- You buy on public reviews. Intelligems holds 4.8 from 198 reviews on the Shopify App Store (checked October 2026). Apex has no public review profile yet.
10When Is Apex the Better Choice?
- Your tests keep coming back flat. The constraint is choosing which tests to run, not building them, and every idea in Apex gets a Likelihood to Win before launch from a test memory of 4.3 million A/B tests from 151,000 shops.
- You want to see why a variant won or lost. Apex shows heat maps and behaviour per variant: clicks, scroll depth, average fold and funnel steps. Intelligems connects to heat map tools; own heat maps: none found.
- You need EU hosting. Apex hosts in the EU plus UK with GDPR in place and DPAs for US tools. Intelligems does not publish a hosting region.
Apex is not the right choice for every shop. A team that already picks winning tests well gets less from the prediction layer. A shop that cannot ship a test a week yet should build that habit on a lighter tool before buying prediction; buying prediction before you can execute is the wrong order. And anyone who needs a published price list before a conversation will not find one for Apex.
11Apex or Intelligems: Which Should You Choose?
Intelligems fits a Shopify store whose main open question is what to charge, what to offer and where to set shipping, and which wants a published price list and a trial. Apex fits a shop whose tests keep coming back flat, where the constraint is choosing which tests to run, not building them. Apex is weaker for a buyer who needs a price before a conversation or public reviews today. Intelligems is weaker for a buyer who needs a documented EU hosting region or a prediction per test idea before anything is built.
